Privacy Policy
We built Droplin for people who are already juggling too much. That includes being intentional about how we handle your data. This page explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
This summary is for convenience and plain-language clarity. It does not replace the full policy below. This page is not legal advice.
1. What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how Droplin ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you:
- Create an account or sign in to Droplin.
- Upload, email, or otherwise send documents to Droplin.
- Visit our website or interact with our marketing pages.
- Use any current or future Droplin features and integrations.
2. Information we collect
Account information
- Name, email address, and authentication details.
- Billing details if you choose a paid plan.
- Basic settings like time zone and notification preferences.
Documents & content you send to Droplin
Droplin exists to handle your life admin, so we process the documents you send us, which may include:
- Bills, statements, invoices, and receipts.
- Renewal notices, insurance documents, and contracts.
- Tax-related documents and medical billing letters.
- Metadata we derive from those documents (amounts, dates, tags, reminders, etc.).
Usage & device information
- Log data such as IP address, browser type, and device info.
- Pages you visit, buttons you click, and features you use.
- Diagnostic data to help us keep the service reliable and secure.
3. How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Droplin service.
- To extract key details from documents (amounts, dates, categories, reminders, and insights).
- To send notifications and reminders you've opted into.
- To surface savings opportunities, tax-related insights, and smart automations if enabled.
- To monitor and protect the security and integrity of our systems.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms of use.
When we use AI models to analyze documents, we do so to power exactly the features you've asked for: sorting, reminders, savings suggestions, and tax-related insights.
4. Email forwarding & document processing
Droplin may provide a unique email address you can forward bills and receipts to. When you use this feature:
- Emails sent to your Droplin address are parsed for attachments and key details.
- Relevant documents and extracted data are added to your account.
- We do not use the contents of your documents to train public models in a way that would identify you personally.
You are responsible for controlling what you forward to this address. If you accidentally send something sensitive, you can delete it from within Droplin and contact us if you need additional help.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share limited data in these situations:
- Service providers: with vetted third-party vendors who help us run Droplin (cloud hosting, analytics, payment processing, email delivery, error tracking).
- AI providers: when we use external AI models, we send only the minimum data needed to generate the requested output.
- Legal requirements: when we must comply with applicable laws, regulations, or valid legal requests.
- Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or similar event, your data may be transferred as part of that process, with reasonable protections.
6. Data storage, security & retention
Security
- Data is stored using modern encryption standards in transit and at rest where applicable.
- Access to systems is restricted to team members who need it to operate the service.
- We monitor for suspicious activity and regularly review security practices.
Retention
- We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.
- If you delete a document, we remove it from active systems and schedule it for deletion from backups within a reasonable period.
- We may keep limited logs and records if required for legal, accounting, or security purposes.
7. Your rights & choices
You may have some or all of the following options:
- Access and update certain account information in your settings.
- Upload, update, or delete documents you have stored in Droplin.
- Adjust email, notification, and reminder preferences.
- Request deletion of your account, subject to legal or security constraints.
Depending on your location, you may have additional data rights under local privacy laws. You can contact us to exercise these rights, and we'll explain what is possible based on where you live.
8. Children's privacy
Droplin is not intended for use by children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the product, the law, or how we operate. When we make material changes, we'll:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top.
- Post the new policy on this page.
- Provide additional notice in the app or by email when required.
